Europe Gross Domestic Product -GDP- grew by 0.4% in the euro area (EA16) and by 0.2% in the Europe 27 during the third quarter of 2009, compared with the preceding quarter, according to flash estimates available by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In the second quarter of this year, progress rates were -0.2% in the euro zone and -0.3% in the Europe 27.

Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted Gross Domestic Product -GDP- decreased by 4.1% in the euro zone and by 4.3% in the Europe 27 in the third quarter of this year, after -4.8% and -4.9% respectively in the previous quarter.

All through the third quarter of this year, US Gross Domestic Product -GDP- increased by 0.9% when compared with the preceding quarter, after -0.2% in the second quarter. US Gross Domestic Product -GDP- decreased by 2.3% when comparedwith the same quarter of the previous year (-3.8% in the previous quarter).
